Blue Mountains Sydney

Blue Mountains Sydneyis among the highest mountain ranges of Australia and the length of the range is somewhat the same as that of the Rockies. The mountain has been so named because of the apparent appearance of the mountain as being blue. The mountain is densely covered by eucalyptus trees and the leaves of these trees gather mist. When this mist refracts the rays of sunlight, it appears blue from far. The highest peak of the Blue Mountains and of Australia is the Mount Kosciusko.

The Blue Mountains of Sydney, though not much high compared to other high mountains of the world, has a rather difficult terrain to explore.
The first successful climbers of the Blue Mountains, Gregory Blaxland, Charles Wentworth and William Lawson managed to conquer the highest point in 1813. Following the discovery, William Cox along with a team of convicts and guards had a 47 miles road built which led to Mount York. The capturing of the Blue Mountains had also led to the discovery of certain grazing and agricultural lands. These lands were used for growing wheat and for pastoral purposes.

The Blue Mountains, Sydney is one of the major tourist attractions of Australia. There is much to do in these hills. The dense forests and the wildlife are spectacular. Exploring the mountain roads by bike or on foot is fun and adventure worth undertaking.
