Sydney Symphony Company is the largest orchestra and performing arts Company in Australia. Its history dates back to the year 1932 when the Australian Broadcasting Corporation was set up. During that time a bunch of musicians formed a band which later on became Sydney Symphony Company. Today, in the year 2007, it is celebrating its 75th year of operation.
Symphony Company in Sydney started with a band of 24 members and gave their first big performance in the year 1934 during the visit of Irish conductor Sir Hamilton Harty. Since that day, this musical orchestra group grew so much that it had to be given the corporate attire and hence it was incorporated as a company.

At present Symphony Company at Sydney performs in more than 180 concerts annually. The band members perform live in front of more than 400000 people. The concert is also broadcast on national channels which cater to some what 570000 people. Moreover, the members of this orchestra group have to make international tours.
The main musical instruments used by the band members of Sydney Symphony Company are brass, percussions, strings such as violins, basses, etc., piano, woodwinds such as flutes, clarinets, etc. Presently, this orchestra group has been only targeting the English-speaking audiences but to develop further, it has to target the audience of the multicultural sector.
