The history of the Strand Arcade dates back to the year 1892 and it was the fifth and last arcade to be built in Victorian Sydney. At the time of its construction, the Strand Arcade was known as 'City Arcade' and was sometimes known as 'Arcade Street'. In 1981, it was named The Strand in honor of the famous London Street, which had the best London Theater, shopping street and hotel, The Strand.
At present, The Strand has some of the most stylish and fashionable stores and retail shops of Sydney. Some of the most popular stores at Strand include Ashani, Gary Castles, Victoria and Albert, Forms, Face of Man, Nocturnal Designs, Zambelli, Wayne Cooper, Hussy, Farage Woman and others.
