The Royal Easter Show of Sydney has an interesting past, which dates back to the year 1822 when the Royal Agricultural Society was formed. Consequently, the society held its first show in the year 1823 at Paramatta. The society was reformed in the year 1857 and then the venue was shifted to Prince Albert Park.Thereafter the venue was again shifted to Moore Park and the show was held there for the next 116 years. Finally Queen Victoria granted the permission to organize the show at the Royal Prefix and in 1998 the Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales built the Sydney Showground at Sydney Olympic Park.
The Sydney Royal Easter Show is more than a farm fair and has a host of carnivals, animal nurseries, fairs and competitions. There are many livestock races, fashion shows, food stalls, carnival rides, wood chopping competitions, skateboarding events and showcasing of newer products at this fair. In 2008, the Sydney Royal Easter Show will be held from March 20 to April 2.
