In the year 1834 General Richard Bourke, the then Governor of New South Wales founded the Paddy's Market at Sydney. Like most other retail markets of Sydney, Paddy’s Market also allows free entry to its customers.
As per the surveys, Paddy’s is not only a popular market in Sydney; it has a major significance in the history of Australia. Since a long period of time the Paddy's Market of Sydney is catering to the needs of the local people as well as of the international tourists. It is basically a commercial enterprise and is situated to the opposite of Dixon Street. The Central station is quite close to this market.
Generally from Thursday to Sunday the Paddy's Market of Sydney remains open from 9.00am to 5.00pm. On public holidays also the Paddy's Market runs its operation. It is indeed one of the oldest shopping squares of Sydney, Australia.
