The Sydney Dance Company dates back to the year 1969 when a dance company was set up by Suzanne Musitz. And in the early part of 1970s, this organization got its new name, the Dance Company of
New South Wales. In the year 1976, Graeme Murphy took over the directorial position. Then finally in the year 1979, Murphy and Vernon suggested the final name change as Sydney Dance Company, its present name.

The noted personalities who were involved with this famous dance company are Jaap Flier, Graeme Murphy and so on. The headquarters of the Sydney Dance Company are located at the Pier 4 and Wharf. It is said that, this dance company of Sydney has built the bright careers of the several famous Australian dancers and choreographers.
