Sydney architecture style is different from that of the other places. It is because the city does not showcase a particular style but has a wide range of designs. And the most attractive thing about all these is that they do not look ugly; rather each of them complements the presence of other.
The Australian city is also proud of producing some of the very noted architects. One of the very famous architects was Francis Greenway who was also the creator of some of the marvelous pieces of architecture in Sydney. He designed and constructed Macquaire Lighthouse, St James Church, New Government House and Hyde Park Barracks.
Greenway was followed by a few more colonial architects in Sydney including James Barnet and Edmund Blacket. Barnet designed various government buildings including the post office,

The architecture of Sydney can be studied by dividing them into six different phases i.e., Old Colonial Period, Victorian Period, Federation Period, Inter-war Period, Post-War Period and Late 20th Century Period. During each period, the architectural style at Sydney was different.
Some of the finest specimens of the excellent Sydney architecture are the Opera House and Sydney Harbor Bridge at Circular Quay, St Mary's Cathedral at Hyde Park, Capitol Theatre at Haymarket, Sydney Town Hall and St Andrew's Anglican Cathedral in Town Hall Area.
Other renowned architects who brought new architectural styles in Sydney were John Verge, Thomas Rowe, Horbury Hunt, W.E. Kemp, B. Backhouse, George McRae and many others.
