City of Sydney

The city of Sydney consists of the central business district of Sydney Metropolitan Area, inner city suburban areas and the greater metropolitan area of Sydney in Australia. The city of Sydney is a Local Government area and was established in the year 1842. On 6th February 2004, the city of South Sydney was also made a part of the city of Sydney.

Before this merger, the actual city of Sydney comprised Sydney, Haymarket on the south, Piermont and Ultimo to the west and Woolloomooloo on the eastern side and other smaller suburban areas. The boundary of the city of Sydney has kept on changing ever since the year 1900.
Many new cities were added in the boundary in the year 1949 and then again in 1968, these cities were made the part of new municipality of South Sydney. South Sydney was separated again in 1982, but then again was separated in 1988 and finally in 2004, was merged with the city of Sydney.

The entire setup of the city of Sydney is heavily influenced by the Victorian style of buildings and by the end of the 19th century; the city of Sydney has managed to merge as one of the most significant and largest cities in the whole world.
