Parks and gardens, Melbourne make the city a very eco-friendly and at the same time it helps attracting a lot of tourists to the city.
That fact that Melbourne houses the maximum number of gardens in Australia, has gained the city the name of Garden City. Even the city streets are lined with big trees on both sides. The European Elm trees are found in abundance all over the city. The gardens in Melbourne have played a vital role in the cultivation of certain rare plants and plants, which are not native to the Australian soil and climate. There are various theme parks as well and many of those parks and gardens can be used as the venues of picnics and get together.

Clement Hodgkinson, the famous landscape designer, along with William Guilfoyle is to be credited for construction of many of the picturesque gardens. The Central Business District also houses many a parks.

Some of the most famous gardens of Melbourne include the Royal Botanic Gardens, the Flagstaff gardens, Flagstaff Gardens and Fitzroy Gardens. The Royal Botanic Gardens were so named after Queen Elizabeth II visited the garden. The Melbourne Zoological Park is located just beside this park. This zoo is the largest zoo in Australia.

Among the Melbourne parks, the Luna Park is a popular amusement park. There are exciting joyrides in this park. Also acrobatics shows and magic shows are regularly held for the entertainment of the visitors.
