Melbourne Coat of Arms is the symbol that is used to represent the Melbourne city. A red cross, which is the cross of St. George, is depicted on a silver shield. The cross is surrounded with a red bar, which is known as cotise.

The Royal Crown is depicted at the center of the cross. On both the sides of the shield, there are two lions of golden color. A Kangaroo is also depicted on the shield. The shield also features four quarters of equal size, which bear four different images. These images include a black bull, a fleece that hangs from a ring, a whale in the sea and a ship sailing in the sea.

The crown of gold in the shield represents the municipal government of Melbourne. The cross and the crown represent the allegiance to Great Britain.

The motto of Melbourne coat of arms is "We gather strength as we go". This phrase was taken from Aeneid by Virgil. Melbourne Coat Arms is also featured in Melbourne's flag.
