BHP Billiton


BHP Billiton is one of the largest diversified mining companies in Melbourne, which had been formed by the merging of the Broken Hill Property Company and the Billiton. The two companies merged in the year 2001. The present headquarters of this company is in Melbourne, Australia. The progress of the company has contributed handsomely to the industrialization of Melbourne.

The two companies, Billiton and BHP have the same directors and even the management structure is the same for both companies. The first CEO of the BHP Billiton merger was Brian Glbertson. However, their shareholding bodies are distinct from each other. This
is a multinational company. The offices of this company are located in Perth, Santiago, London, Singapore, Johannesburg, Shanghai, The Hague and Houston. Some six months later when Glbertson resigned, he was replaced by Chip Goodyear.

There are around 39,000 heads employed under BHP Billiton and the figure is expected to increase in course of time. Broken Hill Property-Billiton has its base in 25 countries and the employees are working on around a hundred projects. The chief mining products of BHP Billiton include manganese, aluminum, petroleum, metallurgical coal, thermal coal, stainless steel materials, iron-ore, diamonds, specialty products and base metals.
