With successive years, it gained a considerable stature, especially when it made to the semi finals and emerged victorious in its maiden premiership in the year 1989. It was also awarded the prestigious wooden spoon in its first year of competition. Successively, they participated and won in four grand finals and three premierships.
The most successful period in the career of the Canberra Raiders is the period between 1987 and 1995, when it won five grand finals and three premierships. Further, in the year 1988, the Canberra Raiders team ended up in the third place with a successive number of victories in some of the matches and national leagues. The year 1990 proved to be the most memorable year for the Canberra Raiders football fans as well as the team itself as it won numerous grand finals and winning titles for themselves.
