National Multicultural Festival

The National Multicultural Festival in Canberra is a grand fiesta held annually in the month of February. This is a significant cultural
festival celebrating Canberra's cultural diversity with live theater performances by the local and the overseas artists. Tourists from different corners of the world come to visualize and experience the spectacular extravaganza.

The balloon fiesta is a unique event to watch for in this festival. Every morning, with sunrise, colorful balloons from Australia and all over the world soar high in the sky and float over the city. It is a sight worth watching. The parade of National Multicultural Festival marks its beginning. The colorful parade features floats, ethnic dancers, bands and different community groups. It ends in the Civic Square with food, songs and music.

With every passing year the festival is getting bigger and better with overwhelming response and participation of people from all over the world. The National Multicultural Festival of the year 2008 is scheduled to be held on February 9. More than 190 stalls have been booked for this festival. The forthcoming 2008 program involves several attractive Australian premiers. The world famous Ghana Dance Ensemble will perform live. This would be their first live performance in Australia. The Nour Amal Blind Eye Orchestra of Egypt, which is an all blind woman professional orchestra group is sure to move the audience with their mesmerizing music.
