Although the Canberra events are held throughout the year, the best time to visit the place is in spring or autumn. During these seasons, the events held are the best of the lot. Celebrate Canberra Festival is held for almost 10 days in March, which marks Canberra's birthday with local music, food, exhibitions, a raft race and a march parade. During the same month, Canberra features the National Folk Festival at Exhibition Park. Spring comes with the Floriade Festival, when the place of Commonwealth Park seems of be flooded with floral color.
Canberra is overcrowded during the New Year, when the Street Machine Summernats is celebrated with hot-rods and wet t-shirt competitions.There are many more popular events in Canberra including the Australian Science Festival in April, Canberra International Balloon Festival (April), which makes the lawns of the Old Parliament House overcrowded to see the spectacular sky with balloons of various size and shapes. Oktoberfest is held in October, which is celebrated with traditional German music and German food and drinks. National Festival of Australian Theater is conducted during October where many famous performers, entertainers and playwrights gather.
Events in Canberra have become more famous with the graceful celebrations like Canberra National Multicultural Festival (March), Floriade (Sept-Oct), National Capital V8 Supercar Races (June), Days of Wine & Roses (Oct) and Royal Canberra Show (Feb).
