Deasland Homestead at Canberra was the residence of George Harcourt. The architecture of the house is extremely solid and reflects the commanding status and rank of the house owner.Deasland Homestead Canberra is a single storied weatherboard farmhouse.
Originally the Homestead had six rooms off a central passage and also a bathroom that has now been converted into a pantry. There were two open verandahs in the original building one on the northwest and the other on the northeast.
The structure of Deasland Homestead Canberra is slender but tough. The framework of the building is made from light timber and galvanized corrugated iron was used to make the original roof of the homestead. In the year 1993, the roof was replaced with unpainted galvanized iron, after the removal of asbestos. The sheets that were originally used in the building still remain on site. The 45mm moulded weatherboards are used on the external walls.
