The bus service has been operating under the trade name of ACTION from February 1977. ACTION bus network runs 365 days in a year and transports passengers to different corners of the city quickly and with ease. ACTION customer service is accessible round the clock by dialing 13 17 10.
The corporate color of ACTION buses are orange and blue. The fleet has 378 buses. Australian Capital Territory Internal Omnibus Network (ACTION) serves Canberra city and other districts like Tuggeranong, Woden/Weston Creek, Belconnen and Gungahlin. Primary bus depots are located in Belconnen and Tuggergong. Four town center interchanges of ACTION network are City, Woden, Tuggeranong and Belconnen. ACTION bus stops are demarcated by a yellow sign placed on a pole with the words 'Bus Stop' or a yellow wooden peg carry the words 'Signal Bus'.
Tourists can avail the ACTION buses for sightseeing. Timetable leaflets for the ACTION bus network can be availed for all routes free of cost from Canberra city information office located between Platforms 1 and 2 of the City Bus Interchange on East Row.
These timetables are also available from various Austouch machines located at all the ACTION interchange. Daily tickets of ACTION can be purchased on boarding the bus, from the driver. This daily ticket allows unlimited travel throughout the entire day. The Off-Peak daily tickets are discount tickets. The Off-Peak timings are from 9 am to 4 30pm and after 6 pm from Monday to Friday.
ACTION's intertown route connects four major shopping malls of Canberra. Canberra Center shopping mall, the Boulevard shopping center, outdoor eateries, the General Post Office and the various retail shops located on the either side of Northbourne Avenue. The tourists can also access the happening Allara Street, where the famous Canberra Casino is located.
The Easy Access buses of ACTION are specially meant for the physically challenged and for people with reduced mobility. No steps are there in these buses and are provided with an extendable ramp, and have ample space to accommodate a wheelchair or a pram. In total there are 82 easy access buses.
Australian Capital Territory Internal Omnibus Network (ACTION) is the only public bus service in the ACT territory. The services are frequent and prompt following the slogan 'Take it easy, Take ACTION.
