Ataturk Memorial Garden Canberra

The Ataturk Memorial Garden, Canberra memorial that has been built to commemorate the Gallipoli Campaign. The crescent-shaped wall of
the memorial represents the symbol on the Turkish flag. A Turkish sculptor Huseyin Gazer, designed the it and the architectural firm PDCM Pty Ltd constructed it. Different kinds of material like concrete, stone sets, polished granite, and copper alloy, were used for its construction.

The Australian Government as a friendly gesture constructed the Ataturk Memorial Garden of Canberra. The Turkish Government agreed to Australian request for officially naming the beach where the Anzac forces landed on 25 April 1915 as "Anzac Cove". As reciprocal gestures, the Australian Government renamed a part of Lake Burley Griffin as Gallipoli Reach which is located at the foot of Anzac Parade and also the entrance to King George Sound situated at Albany in Western Australia was called Ataturk Entrance.

The Ataturk Memorial Garden at Canberra was inaugurated in 1985, seventy years after the momentous Anzac landing. this memorial was unveiled by both the Australian and the Turkish Governments to remember the Gallipoli Campaign.

The memorial has derived its name from Turkey's first president Mustafa Kemal Ataturk who was the leader the Ottoman regiment in defense against the Allies.
