Kabul Climate

The location of Afghanistan greatly influences its climate. Kabul climate is determined by its location too. Situated inland, it is surrounded by countries on all sides. Afghanistan does not possess a coastline and that continues to have a tremendous impact on the climate of Kabul. Kabul temperatures vary throughout the year. While the average temperature during the winters remains close to 5 degrees Celsius, it soars to a maximum of 30 degree Celsius and above during the summers. Precipitation occurs in the form of rain, drizzle, snowfall and hail. Precipitation is maximum in the initial months of the year.
The levels come down considerably during the interim months. Towards the end of the year there is some amount of precipitation. The sun is out in Kabul for most of the year. Rains are infrequent in Kabul as the depressions which are created in the Mediterranean sea are blocked by the mountains in the north of Afghanistan thus leaving the land dry and barren. The location of Kabul leads to extremities in weather conditions. The scorching summers are characterized dry and dusty weather conditions. The rugged terrain becomes all the more desolate during the summers. Winters are extremely chilly. The cold winds of the north make the climate much more hostile.
