Kabul Zoo was inaugurated in the year 1967. In the year 1968 the first department of zoological museum was summed up with Kabul Zoo. As a place of attraction in Kabul this zoo is very popular.
Kabul Zoo remains open from 6am to 6pm everyday. The entrance fee of Kabul Zoo for the local people is 10 Af and for the foreigners the entrance fee is 100 Af.
Financial support was received by Kabul Zoo from the Government of Kabul. The zoo keeper and animal stuffer of this zoo received training from the German zoo experts. Afghan Fauna was the main focus of this zoo. During 1972 Kabul Zoo had 417 animals which included the following:

- 32 species of mammals
- 4 species of reptiles
- Lion
- Tiger
- Parrots
- Pheasants

Numerous children and people visits Kabul Zoo for watching various animals.
