The Omar Mine Museum has become the most important travel site in Kabul, Afghanistan. The museum houses fifty one types of landmines namely unexploded ordnance, airdrop bombs and cluster bombs used during the U. S. invasion. A total of fifty three landmines were used in the wars of Afghanistan.
The abbreviation “Omar” stands for Organization for Mine Clearance and Afghan Rehabilitation. There are restrictions for casual visitors inside the museum.

Prior appointments should be made through the Omar office to enter the Omar Mine Museum. Dr. Shah Walie is one of the head organizers of this museum.
The Organization for Mine Clearance and Afghan Rehabilitation is the prime organization for removal and creating awareness in mines in the country. Established in 1990, it formerly operated in the western part of Afghanistan and gradually spread out to different parts of the country.
