Important Kabul Festivals
Every festival is very important to the people of Kabul and awaited with a great deal of enthusiasm. Some of the main festivals in Kabul are:
- Eid al Fitr in Kabul: This festival is celebrated immediately after the month of fasting or

Ramadan. Eid al Fitr marks the first day of the month named Shawal. In Kabul, the festival is generally celebrated for 3 days. People congregate to pray together in mosques and just after that it is customary to visit relatives and friends. The significant feast of Eid al Fitr is loved by all.
- Mawleed al-Nabi in Kabul: This festival is celebrated on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal according to the Islamic lunar calendar year, which marks the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet. On this day feasts are organized and delicious food is distributed to the poor.
- Eid ul-Adha: It is on the 10th day of the month, Dhu al-hijjah that the celebrations of Eid ul-Adha take place. On this day animals such as goats, sheep and camel are sacrificed.
