Kabul events are very significant as they reflect the culture of the people of Afghanistan. The various festivals celebrated in the city form a part of the notable Kabul events and are marked by endless feasts and a great deal of merrymaking and exultation. A number of festivals are celebrated in Kabul and their dates keep changing every year, in accordance with the Islamic lunar calendar.

Important Kabul Events

The following festivals are some of the biggest events in Kabul:
  • Eid al Fitr in Kabul: This festival is a very important event in the city, which takes place when Ramadan or the month of fasting comes to an end. The first day of Shawal, the 10th month on the Islamic calendar is Eid al Fitr. The
celebrations usually last for 3 days. As a custom people offer congregational prayers at mosques and later on visit all their relatives and friends.

  • Eid ul-Adha In Kabul: This is not only a major festival but one of the most significant events in Kabul. It takes place on the 10th day of the holy month of Dhu al-hijjah. As a ritual, animals like goats, camel and sheep are sacrificed on this event.

    The film festivals in Kabul are events of great importance as they have received international acclaim. The young and talented filmmakers of Kabul get a chance to showcase their meaningful films through the film festivals.
