Since the last decade Chinese Military Power has acquired more strength and has been drawing the attention of the people all over the world. China is working hard on its Military Power. It has modernized its Military Power a lot. China has also increased its defense spending for the all round improvement of the military capacity. Nowadays China is using high profile technologies.
Chinese Military Power is indeed one of the largest militaries in the world, based on its modern techniques and major weapon systems.
In 2000, the total strength of the Chinese military was around 2.5 million. Among them there are 1.8 million personnel associated with the service of PLA, ground forces. The ground forces are separated into 7 military regions. Under these 7 military regions there are 21 Group Armies. Each contains around 60,000 personnel. The Group Armies have 44 infantry divisions, 10 armored divisions, 12 armored brigades, 13 infantry brigades,20 artillery brigades, and 7 helicopter regiments, 5 artillery divisions. Apart from this there are 5 infantry divisions, 1 armored brigade, 2 infantry brigades, 3 artillery brigades, and 3 anti-aircraft artillery brigades, 1 artillery division are independent elements of the PLA. Apart from this there are also three airborne divisions.
Though Chinese Military Power has improved a lot adopting the modernization program. But this programme is not free of defects .
Firstly the latest force structure is quite old.
Secondly the modernization procedure is very slow and time consuming.
Thirdly it is importing a very small amount of modern systems.
Lastly it is unable to satisfy the needs of the Chinese military by producing progressive technologies.
