Chile Military

After the transition of the civilian government in Chile, the President was left with very little powers to exercise over the Chile military. The Ministry of Defense also has very little power to control the military forces of Chile. The President does not have the rights to remove any service chiefs without the prior consent of the National Security Council.

The Chilean Army has always earned a good reputation for performing the best services in the country. The army had not taken part in the War of the Pacific, but still this did not hamper the fame and prestige of the army. Chilean army is respected and honored throughout Latin America.

Chile army is divided into seven military areas of Santiago, Valdivia, Punta Arenas, Iquique, Concepción and Coihaique. The budget of the Chilean military has gone up considerably since 2001. Nearly 2.8 billion US dollars has been spent for buying weapons and most of the old and obsolete weapons have been replaced.

Chilean Navy

The presence of the long coast in Chile was the reason of the subsequent formation of the Chilean Navy. The Chilean Navy has always enjoyed dominance in the nation’s armed forces. The Navy has functioned under the British Influence. Chilean Navy operates from Punta Arenas, Talcahuano, Iquique and Valparaiso.

Chile Military is the pride of the country.
