Banks of Chile are always there to cater to the needs of its customers. To open an account in the bank of Chile several documents are required. The minimum deposits required to be kept in the banks can vary. The deposit can be kept either in U.S dollar or Chilean pesos.
The banks in Chile also offer automatic electronic fund transfer system which makes easy transfer of funds via telex. The following documents are required to open an account in any of the banks in Chile.
  • RUT or tax identification number
  • Carnet de Identidad or ID card or passport
  • Statement of job contract and salary slips
  • Recommendation from any other current bank customer
The Central bank of Chile has an independent entity and has been set up according to the provisions of the constitution. The board members, general manager Division manager and the General Counsel look after the affairs of the bank.



The main aim of the bank is to bring stability in the currency reserves of the country. Secondly, the bank had to maintain the gold standard which was the basis of the country's monetary system. Responsibility of issuing of bank notes and coins rests with the Central Bank of Chile. No bank note or coin money can be published without the consent of Central Bank of Chile.
