Chile Sports

Chile sports mainly feature football as all other Latin American countries. Infact, soccer is the national sport of Chile and soccer enthusiasts are found all over the country. It is quite a common sight in Chile to find people playing football in any adjoining fields on the weekends. Sports in Chile are promoted by the public sport centers which are however quite few in number. Apart from football another popular sports at Chile is basketball. It is now being witnessed that the Chileans belonging to the new generation are taking interest in sports like skiing, surfing, swimming, snowboarding, windsurfing, rafting, fly fishing, climbing, trekking and rafting.

The Federacion de Futbol de Chile is officially responsible for the National Football Team of the country. The Chile National Football Team represents the country in international football competitions. The Chile National Football Team has participated in a number of World Cup Tournaments, finishing third in the 1962 World Cup. The National Football Team of Chile has also played in several Copa America tournaments and the Olympic Game. The Sydney Olympic Games held in the year 2000 has so far been the most memorable with Chile winning the Bronze Medal.



Among other Chile sports, whitewater rafting in the country is full of excitements. Trekking can be enjoyed to the hilt in the Andes mountain ranges and there are numerous locations in the country that are apt for biking. Chile can also be an excellent destination for gathering some excellent fly fishing experience. These Chile sports are also quite popular among the tourists visiting the country.
