Chad Religion comprises of three religions namely the Islam, Christianity and African Religions. The existence of three complete different religions makes the Chad Society and Culture quite multi-ethnic. Thus the society is not monolithic. Numerous gods are worshiped in Chad. Islam has got extremely orthodox beliefs and observes strict rituals. However diversity does exist in this religion.
The entrance of Christianity in the Religion of Chad is quite a recent matter. Christianity arrived with the arrival of the Europeans. Both Protestants and Roman Catholics exist in Chad. Though the followers of each religion are difficult to be measured, in the year 1962, it was calculated that about 35% of the people in Chad followed the African religions, 55% followed Islam while 10% believed it Christianity. The distribution of the different Religion in Chad has changed over the years, especially during the 1970s and 1980s.
With the passage of time, the proportion of Muslims has declined to some extent, as the birth rate among the African religion and Christianity was higher than that of the Muslims. Chad Religion is thus influenced by a lot of religions. The different religions have their rituals and customs and they are well maintained and followed.
