Chad is a Central African country. In this country Muslim religious holidays and Christian Holidays are celebrated all over the country. Some of these holidays are observed as public holidays.

During Public holidays in Chad, banks, business houses and government offices remain closed. The observance of public holidays in Chad is very widespread.

The Public Holidays of Chad are:

  • January 1- New Year’s Day
  • April 9 – Easter Monday
  • April 13- National Day
  • May 1 – Labor Day ( Fete du Travail )
  • August 11- Independence Day
  • October 13- Eid al Fitr
  • November 1 – All Saints’ Day
  • November 28- Proclamation of the Republic Day
  • December 1- Freedom and Democracy Day
  • December 25- Christmas Day

December 1 is celebrated as a public holiday as it marks the rise of President Idress Deby to the office of the Government of Chad.

The Muslim holidays of Chad are:

  • Id El Fitr
  • Ramadan
  • Id El Mouloud Nebewi
  • Id El Kabir ( Tabaski)

Among the Muslim holidays Id El Fitr is celebrated as an official National Holiday. During Ramadan many restaurants remain closed and there are restrictions on drinking and smoking.

The Christmas holidays of Chad are:

  • Christmas

Easter Monday and Easter is observed as public holidays all over the country. On March 8, International Women’s Day or La Journee Internationale de la Femme is observed by the countrymen.
