Whistler Winter Olympics
With piles of snow, the best skiing and snowboarding in the entire North America
along with other multitudinous winter activities, Whistler will be playing a significant role in the 2010 Winter Olympics. Destination for alpine, nordic and sliding events, the town of Whistler will be awarding more than 50% medals of the total 2010 Winter Games medals. Located approximately some 78 miles from the city of Vancouver, whistler will be home to three competition and three non competition venues.
IOC first time in the history of Olympics has honored Whistler with the designation of 'Host Mountain Resort' for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic. Whistler is visited by more than 2 million tourists mainly for the purpose of alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, bobsleigh, luge, skeleton competitions and mountain biking.
