Norway at the 2010 winter Olympics
Norway with 280 medals stands first in the all-time Winter Olympics medal list.
Norway has won 87 of its medals from Cross-country skiing and 79 medals in Speed Skating. Host to the 1952 and 1994 Winter Olympics, Norway was at the sixth position in the 2006 games held in Turin. The dissolution of Soviet Union and the separation of Germany in West and East Germany are partly the reasons for Norway to attain the first positions in the over all medal tally.

A team of 74 athletes were sent in the 2006 Winter Games. Apart from participating in all the skiing events Norway also participated in biathlon, curling, skeleton, snowboarding and speed skating. The country won 2 gold, 8 silver and 9 bronzes.

Bjorn Daehlie, a cross-country skier with 12 Olympic medals is the most acclaimed athlete of Norway. Daehlie was succeeded by Thomas Alsgaard, winner of 6 Olympic medals. Kjetil Andre Aamodt is the most decorated, successful and versatile alpine skier in the Olympic history. Being the only alpine skier to have won 8 medals (4 gold, 2 sliver and 2 bronze) Aamodt is nicknamed as the "Baby Shark". Espen Bredesen, a ski jumping athlete and a winner of 2 Olympic medals is worth mentioning, as he had finished last in the 1992 games but in 1994 he made history by winning the same event. Johann Olav Koss with 5 medals not only did win 3 gold's in 1994 Winter Games but also made world record in all 3 of them.

be the next famous Norwegian Olympian - Ole Einar Bjoerndale, 35year old veteran who has faced 4 Olympics and has won 9 medals, proves to be a promising contender for gold in men's sprint, pursuit, individual and relay events
- Aksel Lund Svindal will be the star of the Alpine Skiing show. Winner of 5 world medals in 2007 and 2009, he is capable of winning several medals in 2010 Winter Games.
- In cross-country, Petter Northug Jr is the man to watch out for. He won 3 gold in 2009
- Winner of 3 gold's in World Champions; Petter Northug Jr is the man to watch out for in the cross-country events.
- Helene Olafsen in snowboard cross and Kjersti Buaas in halfpiper are the strong contenders for 2010
