  • McKeever 1st Paralympian to compete in Winter Olympics
    Brian McKeever, a visually impaired 30 year old cross-country skier of Canada will be competing in the Winter Olympics 2010. This will be the first time in the Olympic history that a physically disabled athlete will be participating in the Winter Olympics.
  • Stamp to commemorate Winter Olympics 2010 released in Utah
    A stamp has been issued to mark the beginning on the 2010 Winter Games, in Vancouver, British Columbia. The stamp indicates an airborne snowboarder against the backdrop of a snow-capped mountain. a total of 45 million stamps have been printed and put on sale.
  • Rachael Flatt and Mirai Nagasu to represent USA in Figure Skating
    Rachael Flatt and Mirai Nagasu finished first and second respectively in the 2010 U.S. Women's Figure Skating. After the first day's result Mirai Nagasu was leading ahead and Rachael Flatt was at the third stand. However towards the end of the competition the first and second spot were taken by Flatt and Nagasu, ensuring a position for then in the U.S. Women's Olympic Team.
  • Winter Olympics 2010, everything ready except for snow
    As the d-day is approaching the VANOC (Vancouver Organizing Committee) is getting worried due to the dearth of snow in Cypress Mountain. Since there will be now snow in near future as per the weather forecasts and the temperature is too warm to produce snow with machines, VANOC may soon be getting both stockpiled and man-made snow from areas of higher elevation. Also there will be straw and wooden structures covered with snow.
  • Former cross-country skiing Olympic champion, Christian Hoffmann of Austria will miss this year's game after suspension.
  • American speed skater, Shani Davis, plans to skate in all five individual events at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
  • Canada stands 2nd with 100 medals, in 2009-10 World Cup medal count. Canada trails Germany by 22 medals. The world cup medal count includes all Winter Olympic sports, except curling and hockey.
