The planet's longest boundary, better known as the International Boundary , runs between Canada and the United Sates of America. It is controlled not by army but by law. Until the September 11, 2001 the security at the crossing was rather lax but post these the attacks it has been stricter in both village and urban areas. The length of the boundary is 8891 meters (which covers little portions of maritime boundaries with the Pacific, Atlantic, Arctic as well as the Great Lakes). Some part of the border travel through the woods and mountains. It also goes through the Akwesasne Nation. This border owes its origin to the Jay Treaty 1794. It formed the International Boundary Commission to which was handed the charge of creating the boundary.
Canadian Border customs-
Due to the presence of the North American Free Trade agreement (NAFTA) Canada is exempted from paying any duty on goods made in Mexico and United States. But duties on items change depending on their category and place of production. The Canadian Border Services Agency was established in the month of December in 2003. It controls and encourages business and traffic and maintains the safety of the people of Canada. The CBSA can check any product coming to Canada and has the authority to fix the required duty and taxes on them. Obviously rules for the same differ according to situations.
