Rhumsiki in Cameroon is a sleepy little settlement located in the far North Province. The village is enclosed by the Mandara Mountains. The village is inhabited by the local Kapsiki group. Rhumsiki is situated in a beautiful natural environment. The villagers live in small thatched roofed houses amidst a picturesque valley. The natural beauty of the place makes it very popular amongst tourists and it may well be called a biosphere reserve. The most popular destination in the village is the Gwanfogbe which is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful locations in Cameroon. The scenic beauty is heightened by the presence of the volcanic plugs or the remains of inactive volcanoes. The appeal of the village is increased by the surrounding Mandara mountains and the basalt outcrops or the part of a rock formation that appears on the surface of the Earth. The natural beauty of the place and the serene environment seems to establish a connection of the self with the surroundings. It is this balanced relationship between the biosphere and the humans that a biosphere reserve attempts to establish. The village provides a glimpse of the real Cameroon.
