Limbe Botanic Garden


Limbe Botanic Garden was founded in 1982. it was founded by a group of Germans. It played a major role in introducing exotic crops like banana, teak, oil palm, cocoa, rubber, coffee, sugar cane etc. It is considered to be one of the most crucial tropical Botanic Gardens of the world. The garden includes various things like staff accommodation, museum, library, classrooms and laboratories.

Limbe Botanic Garden was taken over by the British in the 1920. When the British departed in 1932 the garden was taken care by the Cameroonian personnel till 1985. Next it was taken over by the Government in 1961. But the garden did not improve much during this period. The renovation took place only when the British-Cameroonian partnership.

Limbe Botanic Garden of Cameroon covers nearly 48 hectares area. It has shifted from being an agricultural one. Presently it is a perfect garden to meet the requirements of science, education, recreation and tourism. This garden remains open for all. Limbe Botanic Garden in Cameroon is an ideal spot for nature lovers. The peaceful atmosphere will refresh your soul in no time. The backdrop of Mount Cameroon enhance the beauty of the garden.
