The foreign relations of Cameroon have always been a relevant and a major issue. Today this issue has gained more political relevance than ever before especially due to the rapid development of a global network made up of various countries from all round the world. Cameroon foreign relations, shaped by the governmental structure and the foreign policies, play a pivotal role in determining Cameroon's domestic economic and political conditions.
Since the beginning of the administration of the new president, Paul Biya, the foreign relations of Cameroon have gained a momentum that have raised the expectations of the people of the country. The internal changes had a major impact on the international relations of Cameroon as new policies were being made by the new president.
Cameroon established diplomatic relations with other countries like Taiwan, China, UK, USA etc. Over the years the relations between Cameroon and other countries have witnessed a steady development.
As a result of the friendly relations Cameroon shares with its neighbors and other countries, economic and other kinds of aid is not very difficult for Cameroon to obtain during periods of crisis. Diplomatic relations of Cameroon also encompasses its active involvement and participation in various international organizations especially the United Nations.
