Cameroon Geography


Cameroon Geography shows that it is a Western African country bordered by Equatorial Guinea 189 km, Nigeria 1,690 km Republic of the Congo 523 km, Central African Republic 797 km,Gabon 298 km and Chad 1,094 km. The geographic coordinates of Cameroon are 6 00 N and 12 00 E. The total area this country covers are 475,440 sq km. 469,440 sq km are land and 6,000 sq km are water. The coastline of Cameroon is 402km.

According to Cameroon Geography the climate of this country is mainly tropical along the coast but it is hot in the north. The land of the country is diverse, starting form the coastal plain to mountains, plateau to plains. Volcanic activity from Lake Nyos and Lake Monoun volcanoes often take place.

The natural resources of this country are iron ore, timber, bauxite, hydropower and petroleum. The agricultural products of Cameroon are coffee, bananas, cocoa, cotton, oilseed, grains, livestock, rubber and root starches. Geography of Cameroon reveals that deforestation, poaching, overfishing, overgrazing are becoming environmental issues currently.
