University of Yaoundé is one of the eminent and leading universities of Cameroon. Established in 1962, the university was opened in collaboration with France and initially it was named as Federal University of Yaoundé . The prefix “Federal” was dropped in 1972 and in 1993 the university was subdivided into University of Yaoundé I and University of Yaoundé II. The collaborative affiliation between these two countries basically dealt with two themes- Higher Education Administration and Curriculum Development.

Among the various departments the English Department of Yaoundé University is the most popular one and the structured undergraduate and post graduate programmes calls numerous enrollment throughout the year.
