Renault , founded in 1898 by Louis Renault is a French vehicle manufacturer, which produces cars, vans, buses, tractors and trucks. Renault was also known for its production of taxis, buses and commercial cargo vehicles in the pre-war years. It began production of ammunition, military airplanes and vehicles such as the revolutionary Renault FT-17 tank during World War I.
Renault was also a leading manufacturer of airplane engines and became the number one private manufacturer in France by the end of the war. Headquartered at Boulogne-Billancourt in France, Renault is the producer of a wide variety of cars such as Twingo, Nodus, Clio II, Clio III, Kangoo, Trafic, Megane II, Scenic II, Leguna II, Espace IV and Vel Satis. Its motor sport vehicles were also a key to the success of the company.
