Westpac Banking, the fourth largest bank in Australasia commenced its operations in 1817 as the Bank of New South Wales.

The bank became Westpac in 1982 after a number of mergers. Westpac Banking opened its branches throughout Oceania during the 19 th and 20 th century. Considered as the oldest bank in Australia, Westpac Banking is also regarded as one of the largest banks in the South Pacific.

The core businesses of Westpac Banking consist of five main areas including deposit taking, transaction accounts, Credit Card and other lending. Being a major home loan provider that serves the financial needs of its 8.2 million customers, Westpac Banking runs with a turnover of up to $20 million. The bank, which commenced operations in Fiji in 1901 and Papua New Guinea in 1910, now renders its services in seven south Pacific nations also.
