The Burundi Government follows the rules of the republican structure. The Burundi executive branch is an important division of the Burundi government. The executive branch of the country consists of the president and council of ministers. The president is the head of the Burundi Government. In Burundi, the president is selected by popular vote. The President has got the power of electing ministers for the council. Presently, the president of Burundi is Gabriel Ntiserzerana who has been appointed since 2007, 9th February.
The executive division of the Burundi government is basically run by the chief of the state ( President). The Burundi president serves the country for a five year time span. The Vice-President of the parliament is also selected by the president. By a new rule adopted in 2005, the two-third of legislature can vote a person in the parliament to become the president of the country. Pierre Nkurunziza was elected as the president of the country by a vote of one hundred and fifty one. The election was held following the new rule. The executive branch of the Burundi government also consists of the council ministers who are appointed by the head of the government. The members of the winning party are elected as the council ministers. The ministers and the vice-president assist the Burundi president in running the government.
