Burkina Fulani People



Burkina Fulani people are an integral part of the population of Burkina Faso. This ethnic tribe is not only concentrated in Burkina Faso, but also in several other parts of the African continent. As a result, the tribe is known by separate names in various parts of the African continent. There are five different groups of the Fulani Tribe, which include Fulakunda, Tukolor, Fula Toro, Fuuta Jalon and Fulfulde.

There are certain physical features of the people of Burkina Fulani, which are similar in all parts of Africa. Tanned skin, thin lips, sharp nose and straight hair are some of the physical features of this tribe.

The lifestyle of the Burkina Fulani people is nomadic or semi-nomadic. There are some groups, which prefer to stay at one place and only shift to another place in case of a dreadful crisis. Agriculture and livestock are the main ways of sustenance for these people. Labor is distributed equally among the men and women in the Burkina Fulani society. The people of Burkina Fulani tribe are extremely hard-working and have different occupations for different seasons.

Burkina Fulani people are mostly poor and illiterate. There are very few schools for them as most of these tribes are nomadic in origin. Steeped in superstitions and false beliefs, the population of Burkina Fulani people is far away from the rays of modern life. Islam is the dominant religion in this ethnic tribe. The government is taking steps to improve the conditions of Burkina Fulani people.
