The country of Burkina Faso is in western Africa. The country covers about 105,869 square miles and is located at the northern side of the Ivory Coast and Ghana. Burkina Faso architecture consists of the traditional form of architecture. The traditional style of the architecture of Burkina Faso varies according to the tradition of the ethnic groups and also by the regions.
The primitive style of the architecture of Burkina Faso comprises of the huts made out of temporary straw primarily used by the Fulbe. The Tuareg used to live in the tents and the Bisa, Mossi and the Gurmanche stayed in the huts that were made of adobe bricks and the roofs of those houses would be made of straw.
The ancient architecture of Burkina Faso help the historians in gathering the information about the ethnic groups, who inhabited the southern part of the country. Massive houses were constructed in the shape of castles having solid walls of mud and wood and flat ceilings. These types of structure are the hallmark architecture of the ethnic groups of Dagara, Bobo, Lobi and Gurunsi of the southern part of the country.
In the present days, for the purpose of modern architecture, materials like sheets of zinc used for the purpose of roofing are being imported. Burkina Faso architecture includes the buildings like the multi-storied executive buildings, football stadium, huge avenues, etc. Now-a-days, many architectural firms like G2 Conception, Aapui Sarl, etc are also coming up in the country to make the buildings look gorgeous.
