The government of Burkina Faso has taken great initiatives to improve the heath sectors of the country since 1993.
Burkina Faso Hospitals are mainly located in the cities of Burkina Faso. The total expenditure of health amounted to 6.1% of the GDP of the country in the year 2004. But still Burkina Faso needs major improvements in the health sector of the country.

The country also has ten regional hospitals, 72 medical centers, 628 health centers, 132 dispensaries and 16 maternities. There are even some mobile medical units in the country. These medical units have done a great deal to cure leprosy, yellow fever, and various other contagious diseases.
The Yalgado Ouedraogo is the national hospital of the country and has about 850-beds hospital and serves about 1.5 million people. This hospital is located in the capital of the city and has various units. Among the hospitals in Burkina Faso, this hospital has the most sophisticated equipment and is served by some of the best doctors of the country. People from the adjoining rural areas also come to this hospital.
