Driving in Bulgaria can be a pleasant experience or a hazard depending upon the region where one drives and the weather conditions in which one drives. In order to drive in Bulgaria one has to reach the age of 18 years. Only then can one obtain a driver's license after passing the driving test. For sitting in the front seat of a car the children should be minimum 12 years of age. It is compulsory for drivers and for the front seat passengers in Bulgaria to use seat belts. Use of headlights in towns where lights are dim is a must. During bad weather conditions fog lights or headlights should be put on while driving. The violation of any of the traffic rules in Bulgaria results in paying of on spot fines or other legal punishments. Parking of cars in Bulgaria should not be made in restricted parking zones. Other aspects related to driving in Bulgaria include fueling, payment of tolls for foreign cars, safety rules etc.
