Tutong

Tutong is one of the popular Brunei destinations that offer a panoramic view of the natural beauties of the country. Located near the capital, the Tutong District of Brunei has a land area of approximately 1300 sq km and is home to a population of about 35,000, comprising mostly of the indigenous people. Tutong is easily accessible from Bandar Seri Begawan.

The tourist attractions of Tutong center around the wonders of nature that enthrall all. The largest lake of Brunei, Tasek Merimbun, forms a picturesque landscape. The charm of the lake is accentuated by the presence of a small island at the center. Connected via a wooden bridge the island is an ideal picnic spot.

The Sungai Basong Recreational Park also offers picnic facilities in Tutong. The mini-lake, the open areas and the shelter huts dot the park located on the Tutong- Muara Highway. Another tourist attraction of Tutong, the Tamu Tutong Kampung Serambagun, offers a completely different aspect of the district. It is the open market place of Tutong and bustles with activity all the time.

The golden sands and the blue waters of the South China Sea combine to form the exquisite Seri Kenangan Beach in Tutong. The beach has a narrow strip of land that runs between the South China Sea and the Tutong River. The old jetty of Tutong is down the road through a forest of swaying coconut palm trees.
