For understanding the country of Brunei, it is important to grasp the major components of the country, its land and people. Brunei, land and people thus make up the most significant aspect of the entity of Brunei. The strength of Brunei as a nation had reached its zenith in the 15th and 17th centuries. It was during that time that Brunei had an extensive control over northwest Borneo and southern part of Philippines.
Subsequently, the fate of Brunei witnessed a gradual fall that transformed the face of Brunei, land and people.
