Pelita Brunei, the official newspaper of Brunei, forms a means of communication between the government of Brunei and the people of the country. The newspaper, Pelita Brunei, is published by the Information Department of the Prime Minister's Office. The language used by Pelita Brunei is Malay, the language of the masses of Brunei.

Published on every Wednesday, Pelita Brunei, is distributed to the general public for free. The main aim of this newspaper of Brunei is to bridge the communication gap between the people and the ruling government of Brunei. It is through the official newspaper of Brunei, Pelita Brunei, that the people come to know about the various development plans formulated and implemented by the government.

Distributed to the schools throughout Brunei, Pelita Brunei helps in accentuating the literacy rate of the country. It also features articles based on other aspects of life of Brunei. The popularity of Pelita Brunei led to the launch of the online edition of Pelita Brunei in 1996.

Pelita Brunei features three major sections:
  • The Main Section- deals with the news of the country and the plans and policies of the government.
  • The Variety Section- features fictional writings and provides a platform to exhibit the creativity of the nationals of Brunei. Also includes prayers, sermons, entertainment, etc.
  • The Advert Section- publishes the job vacancies, tenders, etc.
