Hastings Castle Britain

Hastings Castle is the first Norman castle of Britain. Hastings Castle is strategically located at Hastings in the eastern part of Sussex. Tourists can walk around the ruins, enjoy the stunning views, enter the medieval age tent and explore the rock-carved dungeons. The experience in Hastings Castle at Sussex is worth treasuring.

The history of Hastings Castle is also extremely interesting. In 1066, William of Normandy built two castles known as the Pavansy Castle and the Hastings Castle. The Hastings Castle was a timber and earth improvised building. Later an earthwork mote was added to the castle. After the coronation of William, Hastings Castle along with St. Mary's Chapel was rebuilt with stone. For most of the Norman period, Hastings Castle was under the control of Count of EU.

In 1220, Henry III refortified the castle and during his reign it flourished rapidly. In 1287, several sections of the castle collapsed because of violent storms. With the closure of the coastal ports, the castle was abandoned. Hundred years of war and the reign of Henry VIII caused severe damage to the castle. Even during World War II, the raids on the forts and castles caused heavy damage. The castle later became a tourist attraction site in 1824 after being repaired and reformed. In 1951, the Hasting Corporation bought the site and consolidated its position as one of the chief sites of tourist attraction. It is a prime site of tourist attraction in Britain that imparts imperial ambiance. The ruins also provide a peek into the grand heritage of Britain.

Hastings Castle is open to tourists all throughout the year, but the timings vary. From Easter to September, it remains open from 10:00 hours to 17:00 hours everyday, while Hastings Castle in Britain can be accessed from 11:00 hours to 15:00 hours from October to Easter. There is also a minimal admission fee that is charged for entry to the grand castle. While for adults the admission fee is £3.00, children can enter the castle by paying £2.10.
