Brazil Political History owes a lot to the traditional rural society that prevailed during the colonial and independence periods through 1930. The political tradition of Brazil is marked for its three different types. One of them was the Coronelismo. It is the traditional style of politics where the local coronel (or colonel) ensured the votes of rural working class by working in association with the other wealthy farmers. The local political heads patronized the political leaders at the State Level to gain a ministerial position in the municipalities.
As the general masses started migrating from the rural part of Brazil to the urban half, the Brazil Political History witnessed a change. The second type emerged at this point of time. Under this system, the urban politicians played tricks to win votes. The urban politicians appointed a few representatives who took utmost responsibility to solve the problems of the migrants. The recent migrants were thus obliged who would ultimately cast votes for their saviors. The appointed representatives of the politicians generally were doctors, pharmacists, dentists by profession. These people acted nobly to the migrants and influence them to cast votes for the urban politicians.
With the passage of time, the Brazil Political History changed its form. The third type started emerging. The politicians in this type approached the voters directly and influenced them to cast votes in their favor. This type was helped by the advent of technology. The politicians are often seen to deliver speeches through the electronic medium, which can reach a big mass within a short time.
