Botswana Transportation

The recently developed Botswana transportation has helped a great deal to flourish the tourism industry in Botswana. The remote corners of Botswana are now well connected via roads and coaches.
Though the public transportation of Botswana is limited, there are a number of car rentals available where cars can be hired.

Botswana Transportation via road

The roads of Botswana not only connect the main cities and remote corners, but also link the country with the neighboring countries. The highway of Trans Kalahari (completed in 1998) is around 595km long road, which links the remote districts of the country. This road also connects Botswana to Congo and Zimbabwe. The main cities of Gaborone, Fancistown and Kasane are connected via roads. The roads are well maintained and driving is pleasure on these roads. A newly built road has also connected Francistown, Maun and Shikawe. Public transport is limited here. There are cabs available but these are available only near the major airports. The minibuses plying between the towns are properly maintained. Car rentals here have offered great relief to tourists. Botwana Transportation has improved quite a lot with these car rentals.

Transportation of Botswana via railways

Botswana railways connect major cities of Botswana like Francistown and Gaborone. The railway also connects Botswana with a number of neighboring countries. These coaches are air conditioned and the journey is quite comfortable here. Some of the major towns served by the railways are Lobatse, Gaborone, Palapye, Serule, Francistown, Palapye, Morupule, Selibe Phikwe and many more.
